Soooo excited to have found this wonderfully talented photographer/designer. Like myself, her background is in graphic design and she grew passionate about photography after welcoming her own little one into the world. Jessica will be taking sessions beginning April 21. Read on to learn more about Jessica and see some of her work, and stay tuned for her portfolio to be added to the site!
Hi!
I’m Jessica.
Mom, wife and serious coffee-lover.
Every month, Amazon delivers me a large box that resembles a Jumbo 250-mega-pack of diapers. But it’s not diapers – it’s a bulk supply of tiny Keurig K-cups which I receive as a monthly subscription. I always shake my head as I pass the 12-pack of K-cups in the coffee aisle at the grocery store. Who buys 12 K-cups at a time? ‘Blasphemy!’ I proclaim to myself, as others point and stare.
So, yes, I love coffee.
I also use a lot of really exaggerated words when I speak (and type, apparently). My husband says that I can’t just say, “I had a good day.” I have to say something like, “OMG, I had the best day in my life. Ever. Seriously, it was amazing.”
I never noticed it before, but now that he’s pointed it out, I can’t NOT notice it. So, there it is. I’m excited. A lot.
The other thing that’s probably memorable about me is that I love photography. I know – duh, right? That’s why you’re here. But I mean I really, really LOVE it. It’s not my full-time job. It’s just my passion. I do it because I can’t not do it. And that’s a powerful thing, my new friend.
Ok, so a few other things that may help you feel like you know what I’m all about…
I am sort of a bag lady. I LOVE bags. Like even the “help the earth by buying this recycleable bag for $1 at the grocery store” bags. I’m not even sure where my bag obsession comes from (or what it means that I just love things that carry other things). I’m sure it says something about who I am as a person. If you’re a psychologist and have some insight, email me and let me know. I’m really curious.
I have a baby boy named Carter. He’s almost 2-years-old.
Even though he doesn’t know all the words yet, and can’t make coherent sentences out of the ones he does know, he’s hilarious. He makes me laugh constantly, and then thinks it’s funny when I laugh, so he starts laughing, and then we’re both hysterically laughing. And then I stop and realize that what he said didn’t even make sense in the first place. Wow – mind blown. Funny kid.
My husband is super funny, too. He does things that most other humans don’t do. What do I mean, you ask? Well, in a college talent show, he got up on stage and sang ‘Like a Virgin’ by Madonna in a white wedding dress he purchased at the local thrift shop. I really want to know the train of thought that gets him from “Oh, here’s a poster that says our school is putting on a talent show,” to the moment when he’s lying on his back on stage belting out Madonna lyrics. I think the fact that I don’t understand how his brain works is what makes him so wonderful and intriguing to me. Life will never, ever get boring in the Beach household.
Ok last thing, I promise. I also really love cereal… an unhealthy amount. I eat between 2-3 bowls of cereal per day. I know, yikes! And if I have the house to myself for an evening, I’ve been known to eat it for dinner as well.
