One of my favorite things to do with clients after their session is help them figure out how they will display their images. There are tons of amazing products out there and lots of great ideas. If you’re looking for some wall inspiration, check out my pinterest page.
I get asked all the time if my house is covered in photos of my kids. And the answer is “yes, people probably think I’m crazy”. The truth is, I have hundreds, maybe thousands, of photos that I absolutely love that aren’t even on the walls in my home. So I switch out photos frequently and make yearly memory books with my favorite photos from the year. I truly believe that it’s important to have something tangible to display your images. Too often I hear that people buy a disc from a photographer and never get around to getting prints. I am guilty of procrastination too, don’t feel bad.
Here’s a peek at what I have with some of our walls.
This is the office in my house, where I sit hours upon hours! The frames are all by The Organic Bloom. A few of the photos in this room were taken by the amazing Laura Winslow out in Phoenix.
This is one of my favorite projects I have done. It is compilation of a couple hundred photos from 2013. The question is, what am I going to do when 2014 is over? Well… I’ll probably make another one! Above our front door is a gallery wrap photo that I took downtown Cleveland. It’s beautifully dreary and interesting, definitely one of my favorite Cleveland photos.
Going up our stairs is what I call our “Memory Wall”. It includes photos from all stages of our lives. My favorites are the baby photos of my kids. I smile every time I walk up or down the stairs with my 3 and 6 year old. My kids love this wall too!
Last but not least is the basement. This is gallery wrap galore. I won’t show you all of them, because it’s a little ridiculous. (I blame it on the amount of wall space we have down there!) This is my favorite though. There are 4 16×24 gallery wraps along the inside corner of the wall and then a large panoramic gallery wrap of the city of Chicago along the other side. It’s a little more contrived than my mish mosh on the upstairs.
I like that I have some contrived and cleanly designed walls and some mish mosh walls with different size photos. Each wall is unique from the others, which I love. Have I patted myself on the back enough?
