Every August begins a new chapter in every kid’s childhood – beginning a new school year in a new grade! When my son began pre-kindergarten we started doing a back to school photo. I loved it so much that now we do it each year. Not only does the photo document what they look like and their fashion choices (I give them a few options and they pick their outfit) each year, but it documents all of their favorites and what they want to be with they grow up. Looking back it would have been nice to have their height and weight on there too, but that’s what their yearly doctor visit is for I guess!
My daughter’s birthday is in September and she is considered young for her grade. She will forever begin the year as a young one for her grade and quickly prove to everyone that she is right where she belongs. Her favorites change every year and she doesn’t have an activity or passion just yet to choose what she wants to be when she grows up. Right now, she just wants to be A KID!
My son loves Star Wars, Legos and football and I don’t see any of that changing any time soon. He used to be incredibly passionate about art, but now it seems that he has a passion for problem solving and building. He’s undecided on an occupation this year for the first time. His favorite book this year is a book that he and I are both reading. It’s called Wonder and it’s absolutely a must read for any parent or child. We have about 50 pages left and every night we get excited to read together. I have been telling everyone I know about this book because it’s truly life changing.
Check out the years past.
