In the crazy chaos of holiday season I successfully moved my photography studio to a bigger, more comfy space. I finally got around to taking some photos! I still have a lot of work to do to get it how I want it, but here’s a pretty good start.
I now have a cozy little space for parents to hang out, change clothes, etc. This also serves as the spot where I meet with clients for their gallery premiere.
I am primarily a natural light photographer and have killer windows. This is Ohio though, so I do have studio lights that I bust out from time to time.
This is the other side of the studio, the newborn studio is sectioned off on the left. Refreshment bar on the right which includes a tub sink. The tub has already come in handy after messy cake smash sessions.
I will say that the NUMBER ONE reason I moved into a bigger space was because I absolutely could not live any longer without a giant walk in prop closet. While I loved displaying props for clients to see the moment they walk in, it got out of hand. What you’re seeing here is just a bit of the collection. : )
The newborn studio was another must have and I cannot tell you how much I love this little heavenly room. It is sectioned off in it’s own little room. The size of this space allows the room to stay evenly warm so newborns never have to have hot air blowing out of a space heater directly on them. The wall dividing the newborn studio has a large plexiglass window so parents can observe the session without sweating to death. I also keep this room ultra sanitized and no one is allowed to enter with shoes. I do my best to keep other little ones out of this room too so it stays clean and safe for the tinys. Since I have begun newborn sessions in this room I have been able to accomplish much more in the 3 hour newborn session. There could be a lot of reasons for this, but I account it to the atmosphere of the room and the distance of me and baby from the parents. I have been able to relax, concentrate and exercise some creative freedom which has led to some uber happy parents and an uber happy photographer.
