I am so excited to finally unveil the inside of the new studio! We moved in at the end of October and our wild and crazy holiday season kept us so busy that I didn’t have time to take these photos. I have 3 wall designs currently in production (loads of gallery wraps and framed canvas!), one of which is the larger empty wall above the sofa below. I’ll update as soon as it arrives. I still have several more walls to design and some furniture to order but I’m trying not to channel my inner “got to get it all done RIGHT NOW” and be patient. When I worked with my designer to create the space I knew I wanted the lobby to have a WOW factor. We looked at several lights and when I saw this big pink blooming onion chandelier I just had to have it. It’s even cooler in person. I don’t know how many clients have asked where I got it, it’s from AXO Light.
I commissioned a carpenter to build the barn doors and the reception desk. I went with white and brushed metal throughout the studio for a contemporary, modern, feel to fit my brand.
Before I had anything in the studio the contractors joked that this room was “alarming”. My husband said he felt like he was in Space Odyssey 1. It felt SO WEIRD to start shooting in this huge, empty space after being in my homey little office building with props basically bordering every wall. I’m use to it now and so in love. It’s so nice to pull out my fake wood floor and move my backdrop stand aside and have a big white space to let kids explore. Capturing those genuine expressions has been such a blast! Check out the Jack Frost Minis to see the amazing snowball fights we had!
The meeting space is where we meet with clients to review their images and pick out products. Designing walls is one of our favorite things to do in here! We are still working on the arrangement of this room as it seems to change on a regular basis.
Our parent relaxation room has already gotten TONS of usage. It was designed with the intention of a room where newborn parents could kick back and relax while I worked with baby (there is a window into the newborn/baby studio), but we have also used it for a dressing room and waiting area during SNAPPY sessions. We keep the fridge fully stocked with drinks, snacks are in the cabinet and we included a sink because let’s be honest, parents always need a sink in close range for something :) The smart TV includes hulu, netflix, amazon, etc and we have guest WIFI throughout the studio. I’ll have to update this photo in a week or so when I hang the squishy newborn displays currently in production! The newborn & baby studio is a smaller studio used just for newborns and babies. It has a separate thermostat so we can keep this room warmer than the others and plenty of natural light.
It’s hard to choose a favorite room in our new space but this room is GLORIOUS. It’s our gigantic prop room. So far everyone has asked one question – how did you fit all of this stuff in your old space? Answer – it was piled (and I mean PILED) in a small storage space that I often had to climb through.
Oh heavenly production room how I have longed for you. This is where our packaging takes place. We take our packaging seriously. So what are we missing? We have a huge office in the front of the building that will be used as a community office space as we grow, I have a large office for myself that is pretty uneventful drab as of right now, we have a kitchen that has not yet been decorated properly and we have some pretty cool hallways :) Stop in and check it out! We like visitors!
